My wife and I stopped for a meal at the cafe during a visit to MoMa. MoMa is to me like a combination seismograph and MRI of the human psyche as seen through modern art. That window is one of the prime values of all Art through the ages...If you are willing to learn it will teach.
DINNER WITH PICASSO
I picture Picasso as fascinated and drawn into the stories of the dark side of human nature. "Doctor Satan" (Marcel Petiot) who murdered 60 to 200 people in Paris during the war caught Picasso's attention. At this same time as Picasso was having dinner with the chief of police of Paris and owls began to appear in his paintings. Picasso took a deep interest in owls that would in the evening swoop down into allies, grab cats in their claws and take off into the night with them.

Munch

Munch died in his house at Ekely near Oslo on 23 January 1944, just over a month after his 80th birthday. Shortly after Munch's death several men, including Fritz Jenssen, the NS-mayor of Oslo, arrived at his Ekely house to offer his family a state funeral. His family refused this offer, but to no avail - the Nazis insisted. Despite Munch's wish for a private cremation with nobody present; his funeral was hijacked by the Nazis and turned it into a propaganda opportunity.

Garden Intruder
A cat wondered in our backyard hunting. After a few minutes he pounced into a patch of ground cover and came out with something struggling in his mouth. A Garden Intruder as something- a grotesque- that appears and preys on the innocent, the unsuspecting and unprepared. The basic idea relates to certain inconceivable political challenges to American democracy at this time. In these works that is

I did this series nonstop one morning. I stopped when out of nowhere our home security alarm sent off, and I did not have the code at hand to turn off the alarm.
