STUDY CONCERNING CLARK ASHTON SMITH No. 9, 14 1/4" X 15", MIXED MEDIA

Lafcadio sips the cup full of green fragrance in the shadow of Matsue Castle. Dragonflies crisscross through his small garden while the o- bon cicadas cry out in the hot August day. The Festival of the Dead is soon and his mind turns to the tales he had been told of the white fox. Opening his notebook he takes a sip of wine. Soon it will be the dry season and Clark will be sleeping outdoors on his old cot under the stars. Blue gnarled tree brances hang over his outdoor writing table and a dragonfly makes a figure eight in the summer heat above it.
